Biopuncture

Do you suffer from chronic pain or inflammation?
Are you troubled by persistent eczema, allergies,
hay fever, or bronchitis?
Do you have an auto-immune condition such as Lupus, Rheumatoid
Arthritis, Vasculitis or Hashimoto’s Thyroidits?

If your answer to any of these is “yes,” you may want to consider Biopuncture. This natural, safe, and effective treatment often brings relief to patients who have tried conventional treatments without success, are concerned about side effects from prescription medications, or wish to avoid more aggressive treatments (i.e., surgery).

Used alone or in combination with traditional therapies, biopuncture is a safe, cutting-edge alternative to conventional medical treatments.

Want to learn more? Here are my answers to some of the most common questions patients ask me about biopuncture.

What is biopuncture?
Biopuncture is a natural therapy in which I use acupuncture methods to inject homeopathic, mainly plant-derived, solutions into skin and muscle tissues in specific locations on the body.

What kinds of products are injected?
In general, biopuncture solutions contain several compounds, which I choose according to each patient’s specific needs. Some examples of biopuncture solutions and their respective uses include:

  • Lymphomyosot for lymphatic drainage
  • Traumeel for inflammation and sports injuries
  • Spascupreel for muscular cramps
  • Echinacea for the body’s natural defense system

The goal of biopuncture is to help stabilize musculoskeletal inflammation and support the immune response. As such, a combination of different formulas is used at varying tissue depths (subcutaneous to intramuscular) to achieve the desired outcome.

Are these products safe for me?
Yes, for many reasons. First, all biopuncture solutions are manufactured in pharmaceutical-quality labs, ensuring the absolute sterility and stability of the product. Next, because the biopuncture products are all based on homeopathic solutions, the active ingredients are present in very weak concentrations. Biopuncture works by injecting these very dilute natural substances in very discreet acupuncture points along the body to achieve the desired immune response.

How can such diluted solutions actually have any effect on the body?
How can such a small dose have a healing effect on your body? Scientists don’t have final proof yet, but they postulate that homeopathic injections work by stimulating the immune system. Biopuncture is unique because we inject these natural solutions along specific acupuncture meridians.

This is quite different, however, than acupuncture, in which specific acupuncture needles are inserted along different meridians.
There are many uses for biopuncture injection including:

  • Autoimmune illness (lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and many others)
  • Neuropathies
  • Acute muscle/joint swelling
  • Ankle sprain
  • Neck sprain
  • Back sprain

Has it been proven that biopuncture stimulates the immune system?
Biopuncturists have observed the effects of these injections for decades. Patients report feeling better after a course of biopuncture injections, and their lab work often shows great improvement as well.

A clinical study reported in the medical journal Clinical and Developmental Immunology in June of 2004 revealed that one of the solutions, Traumeel, inhibited the inflammatory cytokines IL-1B and TNF-alpha secretion.

But how does biopuncture work to help me with my pain or inflammation?
The process of injecting the natural plant materials into your meridians and your different tissue layers results in a robust immune response. Even though the dose of these substances is very low, they cause your immune system to “wake up,” which generally results in increased blood flow and detoxification of your immune system. The overall result is decreased pain, less inflammation, and overall toning of your immune system.

Will biopuncture help me as quickly as conventional therapies?
I believe that biopuncture can complement and even replace conventional therapy in some cases. Because biopuncture involves the activation of your body’s immune system, the results are sometimes quite dramatic.

In general, biopuncture is a great adjuvant to the many other natural therapies I employ. Whether you want to decrease the pain and swelling in your ankle or help transform your immune system, biopuncture provides a safe and natural approach that is quite different than common conventional therapies.

How many injections will I receive each session?
Typically, you will receive several injections each session. For example, if I want to work on your liver, I will administer about 6 to 8 small injections under the skin on your belly.

When you have inflammation in your joint or muscle, I will make several (sometimes 10 to 12) small injections around the tender site of your affected joints and muscles.

Because very small needles are used, biopuncture injections may be mildly irritating but are not generally painful.

How many biopuncture sessions will I need?
Because I inject small doses of natural products rather than cortisone injections or other steroids, healing may take longer to occur. Biopuncture works best by slowly introducing the different solutions to different layers of tissue. Sometimes patients respond to 2 or 3 sets of injections spaced a few days apart (for more acute inflammation), but the vast majority of patients choose a course of about 6 sets of injections completed over several weeks.

What is a detox treatment?
Toxins from the environment (e.g., air pollution and smoking), bad nutrition, or medication you’ve taken (e.g., antibiotics and steroids) can block your defense system. An important goal of biopuncture is detoxification of the body – literally cleaning the body from all the toxins that have accumulated.

Some injections work specifically on the liver and others on the kidneys. Cleaning up the lymphatic system with Lymphomyosot is very important in biopuncture – somewhat like taking the leaves out of the gutter. The downside of such an approach is that old symptoms that were once suppressed may resurface, but that is sometimes part of the body’s healing strategy.

Can I expect immediate improvement after an injection?
Not in most cases. A series of injections is usually required to “reactivate” the immune system to respond. While some patients start to experience healing effects sooner than others, it generally takes several weeks to feel the benefits of biopuncture. Because I inject the natural biopuncture solution along specific meridians, however, this comprehensive approach generally results in long-term healing, and not just a quick fix.
